We can manage our own health and it is a must for good health. The human body was created to repair itself and will do
so if we take the initiative to assist it by first using what our creator provided and it is always the safest form of nutrients that our body can
easily absorb. We just need to learn to listen to our bodies as it communicates to us. The body often uses pain and discomfort as a
means to tell us something is wrong and we need to change something, for example, when my lower back starts to ache it tells me I've
been sitting too long and probably sitting incorrectly, moving around or checking my posture usually corrects the pain. However, I've seen
people with the same complaint remain in the same position and just complain or go get pain medication for something that could be
easily fixed. When we use pain medication it covers what is wrong and seldom do we seek out the problem and fix it, so it then worsens
and becomes chronic.

Our bodies talk to us to let us know something is wrong but usually we are "too busy" to listen or we don't trust
our instinct because we've been told for so long by the medical industry that we aren't qualified to know what we are
feeling. We are more qualified than anyone else to know what is going on in our own bodies if we pay attention and trust
our instinct.
One size does NOT fit all, our bodies are unique and very individual. Has this ever happened to you? You read that a
certain substance worked amazingly well for a person and they suggest everyone try it, so you did, and it doesn't change any symptoms for
you so it's automatically dismissed as just another scam. There are so many variables that play into the outcome, such as dosage, was it
the correct amount for your body weight or deficiency? The body chemistry might be different from that person's which would change the
outcome. This is why it is so important to manage our own health, because there are so many different nutrients and minerals that can
change our chemistry numbers, as well as, rest, exercise, and our emotional state of mind. We should not blindly ingest anything in our
bodies without first knowing what is in it and what it will do, especially drugs, all drugs have side affects and some can be worse than the
symptom that is being treated. We go back to get treated for this new symptom (side affect) and chances are the doctor will not say it is a
side affect but will prescribe another drug to fix that symptom, which creates another side affect and so it goes on until anywhere from 3 to 5
or more drugs are a daily routine with no "quit date," on the calendar and worse yet the under-lying problem is not being corrected so health
starts failing and disease is on the horizon.
If they don't recognize the symptoms or have a "pill" for them, it doesn't exist. Unfortunately the pharmaceutical
industry has now created numerous new drugs for most complaints. There has been a war on illegal drugs for decades but the abuse of
legal drugs, in my opinion, is the greater problem in todays culture. Every other ad on TV is now promoting a "new" drug and the drug
usually is for one area of the body or another, just like a special doctor for this area and a special doctor for another area. The body should
be treated in whole, not dissected with the isolated parts all being treated to the exclusion of the whole person. It is my hope to teach, those
that will listen, some basic truths about the human body and what it needs for good health, not only the physical needs but the emotional
and spiritual as well.
Every substance we ingest has the potential to do harm or good and much of the time we don't give a second thought to
what we are ingesting. The FDA approves it, so we believe it to be safe, and perhaps it is, but when the FDA approves a product they are
approving "one" product separate from others. Now consider over the course of a day how many of these products you come in contact with
that have "safe" levels of toxins. If you just look around your home, your car, the food pantry and read the labels the amount starts adding up
to a very "unsafe" level, and the safe level is lower for our children and the elderly. Any one substance in and of itself would probably be
cleansed from the body before it could do harm but our systems are being over-whelmed with the constant influx of toxins, and the rising
chronic health problems here in America are reflective of this.
We need to take responsibility for our own health, before their is a major health crisis, prevention is the key. We
cannot blindly entrust our health to the government (FDA) or the medical establishment (AMA), neither entity is concerned about our health, it
is all about the "numbers."
Don't take my word for it.. Go ahead... Do your own research...You just might get angry enough to learn how to, "manage my own health."

I've started a new yahoo health group called, managemyownhealth, but as with any new group it needs members JOIN if
you are interested. It doesn't have activity right now but in time hopefully it will grow and become active as others share their

Although I've been practicing natural health all of my adult life and studying it with more intensity in the past ten years I am now working on my BS in Natural Health through Clayton College, and should have it by the end of 08. I then plan on continuing my education towards a doctorate of science in natural health, which would allow me the title of Natural Health Doctor (NHD)

Do you know that most molecule's (drugs) are a synthetic version of just one component of a natural whole
food or herb?
The active ingredient that is responsible for healing is extracted from the whole substance or as in more recent years a synthetic version is
made in a lab by a chemist. When one component is separated from the others it becomes more concentrated and can be more harmful,
when given the synthetic version the body does not know how to use it and side effects are created. We can manage our own health and
cure most health issue's with nutrition, water, exercise, rest, supplements, minerals, and a proper balance of emotions. There is a
necessity for proper medical care or treatment when their is a crisis but it should not be a life sentence of medications that become a way
of life, especially as we age. I do not have annual exams. I've never had a mammogram and never will, but, I've managed my own health
all my adult life. When I thought I had cause to visit a doctors office they didn't know what the problem was (more later) but of course
prescribed a drug, an "antibiotic," surprised... Probably not!

Our minds should be in control of the body. Cravings are the body telling the
mind what it wants, when the mind should be telling the body what it needs.
Gradual changes can be made to correct this and one of the first methods
would be nutrition using whole foods. Walking toward good health is a
journey and should be started while the body is still growing but unfortunately
this isn't the case in our country due to all the processed foods. Youthful
health gradually starts to decline with age and might appear as allergies,
chronic colds, sinus infections, etc. These are all warning signs to let us
know that something needs to change. Do we listen, some do, some don't,
but most will go to the doctor and the symptoms are treated with drugs. It
usually gives relief to the symptoms but does nothing to eradicate the
problem. Managing our own health using nutrition will provide the proper
minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and enzymes the body needs and the
pharmaceutical industry would be greatly reduced while our finances would
be increased. If we periodically cleanse our liver, kidney and colon we would
absorb our nutrients better and if we eliminated the parasites that intrude, we
again would have much better health, more on this later.
There are no "secrets" to good health, it is the same message that has been
out there for decades. Basic information has been lost through
commercialism, consumerism and whatever other "ism" is profitable for the
moment. We, as a people, need to come together and say, "enough." It is
time to accept responsibility and say, "I will manage my own health, thank you
very much."
